He was predeceased by: his parents, Anton Stein and Minnie Stein (Zentner); his wife Shirley; his father-in-law Harry (Cecilia Tatley); and his brothers, Richard, Joseph and Mark.
He is survived by: his children, Bryan of Horace, ND, Stacey Schuler (Scott) of San Antonio, TX, Jill Kvasager (Bill) and Steve (Stacie Reierson) of Devils Lake, ND; his grandchildren, Ethan (Faithe), Owen, Ashton, Casey (Hannah), Callie (Juan) and Megan (Dan); his great grandchildren, Louise, Henry, Schuler, Noah, Isla and Emmett; and his sister Angie of Bismarck, ND. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
During the early 2000s Ray was recognized by the Internal Revenue Service for his outstanding contributions to the Federal Volunteer Tax Program for providing tax assistance to the low-income, disabled, and elderly people.
