She was predeceased by: her parents, Philip Curnin and Agnes Curnin; and her husband Paul D. Rukwid, Sr.. She is survived by: her children, Paul D. Rukwid, Jr. (Toni), Scott, Heidi, Mark and Glenn Rukwid; her grandchildren, Taschto, Cedar Rukwid and Wendy Maki; her sibling's children, Cheryl Dennin and Christopher Birr; her cousin Thomas Curnin of Florida; and her friends, Jay, Nancy Hopay, Jim, Linda Lewis, Melbourne Beach, Ken, Nancy Hodge, Mary "Mame", Donald DeAngelis, Katie, Lisa and Lynda.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.

“My sympathy goes out to Heidi and the entire Rukwid family. Connie and Paul were part of my original Elsmere Fire Department family when I first joined in 1971 and thru some great years. They made life fun. As a Life Member and Past Chief I watched Heidi progress to be a great firefighter and move on to continue that role with other departments.
