He was predeceased by: his parents, Helen Kiley and Leo Michael Burns; and his siblings, Joyce (John Lansing) and Michael (Constance Burns). He is survived by: his daughters, Kerry Anne and Colleen Mary Burns (Hugh Simons) of Boston, MA.; his grandchildren, Kerry Grace and Seamus Kiley Matlack (Olivia Clark); his children, Jack (Gina), Kate, Megan, Matthew, James (Gina) and Sarah Sullivan (Gianni Jacklone); his grandchildren, Sean, Nicole, Chloe, Logan, Ava, Nolan and Lana; his brother-in-law John (Mary Vroman); his cousin John Pleat; and his sibling's children, John Lansing, Jr. (Teri), Daryl Lansing, Michael Lansing (Karen), Deborah Corbari (Chris), Michael Burns (Darcy) and Thomas Burns.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Alzheimer's Foundation or Blood Cancer United.
