He was predeceased by: his parents, Louis Hersey and Mabel Haine Hersey; his sons, Scott and Deric Hersey; and his siblings, Josephine Van Alstine and Henry Hersey.

He is survived by: his wife Beverly Bloom Hersey; his daughter Carrie Rabideau of Middle Grove; his sister Jackie Hayes of Corinth; his grandchildren, Cody, Chyanna of Aubree, K. C., Summer and Deric, Jr.; and his stepgrandson Jeremy. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Galway Ambulance Corps or to the Providence Volunteer Fire Department, in care of the funeral home.
