He was predeceased by: his parents, James G. Horvath I and Alice Horvath (Baker); and his son Robert J. "Bob" Horvath. He is survived by: his wife Phyllis Lombardi Horvath; his son James G. Horvath (Jim); his grandchildren, Lorenzo, Milana, Cyrus and Zyia Horvath; and his sister Kathy Horvath (Carol Lowenthal). He is also survived by many other relatives, including several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
