She was predeceased by: her parents, Howard S. Byam and Beulah J. Briggs Byam; and her friend Nancy Williams. She is survived by: her sisters, Carol L. Rice and Diane R. McConnelee (Paul); and her friend Peter Diem.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, July 18th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Calendar Lisha's Kill Reformed Church (2131 Central Ave, Schenectady, NY 12304). Joan's health began declining in 2020, even though she did not get Covid until recently.

Memorial donations in Joan's honor may be made to LKRC, or Schenectady City Mission.
