He was predeceased by: his parents, Abraham Newman and Elsie Newman; his wife Shirley Newman; his stepson Joel Lindy; and his sister Irene Heskes.
He is survived by: his daughter Judith Ruthenberg (Alvin); his daughter-in-law Marilyn Lindy (Dan DeMicco); his grandchildren, Joshua Lindy (Nicole), Jeffrey Lindy (Gwen), Kate Hartman (Frederick) and Michael Trossman (Tierney); his niece Deborah Kraut (Alan); his nephew Walter Heskes; and his great-niece Dr. Julia Kraut. He is also survived by eight great-grandchildren.
