Michael J. DeGroat Obituary
We are sad to announce that on June 18, 2025, at the age of 62, Michael J. DeGroat of Albany, New York passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
As Michael departs from this earthly realm, his essence lingers — a whisper on the wind, a ripple on the water — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of life and death. Though Michael may no longer walk beside us, his spirit lives on in the memories and the legacy Michael leaves behind.
He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Nora Burke and James DeGroat; his wife Patti DeGroat (Mathews); his daughters, Mary Kate Vanasdale (DeGroat) and Colleen DeGroat; and his son-in-law Tim Vanasdale. He was also cherished by nephews, nieces, sister/brother-in-laws, and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 23rd 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the McVeigh Funeral Home (208 N Allen St, Albany, NY 12206). A funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, June 24th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the Parish of Mater Christi (40 Hopewell St, Albany, NY 12208).
