He was predeceased by: his wife Janice K. Smith; his parents, Frances M. Tynan-Smith and Edward J Smith Jr.; and his sister Maureen F. Smith. He is survived by: his sons, Darrin Smith (Nicole) and Bret Smith (Zulvey); his grandchildren, Mireya, Philipp and Kevin Smith; his sister Patricia Hausler Smith; his niece Nicole Miller; and his nephew Kenny Hausler.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Shaker Place Rehabilitation & Nursing Center at 100 Heritage Lane, Albany, NY 12211, whose staff provided him with great care during his last days.
