He was predeceased by: his parents, George Jessie Schell and Ruth Schell (Fagan); his wife Patricia Ann Dinneen; his stepmother Margaret "Peg" Schell (Ross); and his brother Robert.
He is survived by: his daughters, Pamela Bennett, Paula Schell (George), Phyllis Moynihan and Patricia Luce (Charles); his grandchildren, Garrett, Paul J. Moynihan (Laura), Meghan, Erica Luce and Sarah Notaro (Justin); and his great grandchildren, Jaymin, Lainey Notaro, Camila, Luna and Paul D. Moynihan. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
