She was predeceased by: her husband Karl Ernst Jr. of Albany; her parents, Julia Smith and Philip Smith; her sons, Karl "Butch" Ernst III and John Ernst; her siblings, Phyllis Bowering, Mary Ellen Power, Patricia Smith, Jack and William Smith; and her uncle Tom Flannigan.
She is survived by: her children, Frank Ernst (Patty), Virginia Russell (Paul), Mary Ricchiuti (Lenny) and Patricia Dodge (Jack); her son-in-law Dan Hart; her sisters-in-law, Theresa Smith and Virginia Fissette; and her grandchildren, Kriste McNall (Joe), Jason Russell (Catherine), Jessica Ernst, Tressa Murphy (Dan), Sara Ricchiuti, Julie Hart, Amy Ricchiuti and Shannah Westfall. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
