It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Monir Victor Barakat (Sleepy Hollow, New York), who passed away on June 21, 2025, at the age of 79, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Zakieh Barakat and Victor Barakat; and his daughter Dana. He is survived by: his wife Hayat; his son Sam (Karine); his grandchildren, Isabella, Maya, Lara and Rafael; and his siblings, Nazek, Nazih, Ghada and Sana. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

“I was saddened to hear about the passing of Monir. I have so many fond memories from the 1980's when my family travelled to New York every Thanksgiving to visit the city and to visit Monir and Hayat. On Thanksgiving Day, we would take the train up to Westchester County to spend Thanksgiving Day with Barakats from NY, Canada and beyond. Monir served as a great example for me as a successful businessperson and as a loving father. My sincere condolences to Hayat and Sam. -Oliver Barakat”
