He was predeceased by: his parents, James II and Joyce Elizabeth Darden II (Stokes); his sister Delores Shedlock; and his grandsons, James R Darden V and Gregory Darden.
He is survived by: his wife Peggy Darden (Mills); his children, James Darden IV, Dr. Kathleen Petit (Matthew) and Joyce Moye (Brett); his grandchildren, Jennifer, Zachary, Jaime, Jillian, Molly, Ella and Caitlyn; and his siblings-in-law, Walter Mills (Cecelia), Ken Wolf (Nancy), Donna Furrer, Nancy Wolking and Marna Harker.
