He is survived by: his wife Janice; his children, Richard, Jason and Victoria; his grandchildren, Gene Matako III (Kelly), Lily, Lane and Penelope; and his great grandchildren, Gino and Kendallyn. He is also survived by grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Visitation was held on Saturday, August 22nd 2026 from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM at the Rossi Funeral Home (730 30th St NW, Canton, OH 44709). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Saturday, August 22nd 2026 at 10:00 AM at the St. Peter Catholic Church (702 Cleveland Ave NW, Canton, OH 44702).
