He was predeceased by: his brother Jack Sams. He is survived by: his wife Margaret "Winnie" Sams; his children, Frances Sams, Jim Jr. (Paula), Jerry, Jack (Tara) and Shawn Sams; his siblings, Susan Bettis and Bill Sams; and his sister-in-law Diane Sams. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
