She was predeceased by: her parent Christian Nyktas; and her husband Dennis A. Kapalko. She is survived by: her children, Athan Kapalko and Aliki Marchaza (Kevin); her grandchildren, Aris Kapalko, Isabella Kapalko, Kamila Marchaza and Alexcia Marchaza; and her siblings, Elaine Brubaker (Carl), Maria Harrold (Michael), Antonia Culliton and George Nyktas (Cathy). She is also survived by her many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made in Katherine's name to St. Haralambos Hellenic Dancers.
