She was predeceased by: her parents, Foster Borders and Mary Borders; her husband Frank G Penn; her daughter Bernice Curtis; and her siblings, Samuel Borders, Lenzie Borders, Eugene Borders, Foster Borders Jr., Louise Outlaw, Lela Mae McLean, Alfred Borders and Kenneth Borders.
She is survived by: her daughter Veronica Penn; her sister June Franklin; her grandchildren, Kathy Brown (Gerald), Jeffery Gales, Michael Gales (Jemia), Gina Nesbitt (Barry), Carlisa Poole (John) and Damon Curtis (Michelle); her great grandchildren, Romar Roberson (Megan), Stephen Gales (Miranda), Elan Brown, Brittany Roberson, Starla Wells (James), Miles Brown, Rashaunda Jackson, Cameron Brown, Brandon Thomas, Ava Curtis, Claire Curtis, Michael Gales Jr., Maurice Gales, Marcellas Gales, Marcus Gales and Tyler Brown; her great great grandchildren, Keyana Gales, Stephen Gales Jr., Rhian Roberson, Reymir Jackson, Reyonna Jackson, Riley Roberson, Maya Roberson, Averi Brown-Jackson, Marcellas Gales Jr., Zyair Wells, Trebreh Wells, Harmonie Andrews, Marcus Gales Jr., Marquese Gales, Mara Gales and Marqueo Brown; her friend Lillian Brewton; and her goddaughter Tanea Spencer. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, and sister-in-laws; many "bonus" grandchildren and friends who knew her as "Granny".
A funeral service was held on Wednesday, August 13th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Reed Funeral Home, North Canton Chapel.
