She was predeceased by: her father Wayne Austin. She is survived by: her sons, Jim Zimmer (Cindy) and Gary Zimmer (Betsy); and her siblings, Jim Austin and Georgia Wackerly. She is also survived by five grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made in Opal's name to the Canton Baptist Temple.
