He was predeceased by: his wife Margie; and his granddaughter Grace. He is survived by: his son David; his daughter-in-law Julie Koontz; his sons, Ken Koontz and Brad; and his daughter-in-law Lori Koontz. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and a host of other family and friends.
