He was predeceased by: his parents, Peter Kandis and Roula Kandis. He is survived by: his wife Efsevia "Voula" Kandis; his children, Roula Volas (Evan), Pete Kandis (Ashley) and Gregory Kandis (Elena); his grandchildren, Zachary Volas, Jacob, Anna, Gus Kandis, Eva and Niko Kandis; and his sister Anthoula Douvalakis of Greece. He is also survived by family and friends.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Sakes' name may be made to St. Haralambos Greek Orthodox Church.
