Townsend of Canton, Ohio, born in Linville, North Carolina, who passed away on September 28, 2022, at the age of 86, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by : his father Rolin Townsend; and his siblings, Carl "Max" Townsend, Robert "Buddy" Townsend, Floyd Townsend, Janet Negley and Laura Hamton.

He is survived by : his wife Patricia; his children, Darla Greenwalt (Lee), Robert Townsend and William Townsend; his grandchildren, L. J. Greenwalt, Robert Greenwalt and Ashlee Greenwalt; his sister Christine Cummingham; and his stepson David Smith.
