He was predeceased by: his parents, John Murphy and Juanita Murphy (Dowlin); his brothers, John Jr., Donald and George Murphy; and his grandson P. Michael Murphy III.
He is survived by: his wife Cathy Murphy; his children, Melissa Needles (Erik), P. Michael Murphy II (Jennifer) and Shawn Murphy (Alicia); his grandchildren, John Needles (Lauren), Katelynn Needles, Joseph Needles, Kaiyaa McKenrick (Nate), Alexis Tollison (Daniel), Charlie Murphy and Lucy Murphy; his great grandchildren, Hudson, Easton, Harper Needles and Lewie Tollison III; his brother Robert Murphy (Patti); and his siblings-in-law, Ed, Myra McGraw, Dawn Murphy and Donna Murphy. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family members, dear friends.
