He was predeceased by: his wife Cynthia G. Smiley; his parents, Charles Burr and Leona Emma (Leppelmeier); and his children, Suzanne Smiley and Douglas John Smiley.
He is survived by: his children, Rebecca L. (Gerard Wolf) of Hunt, TX, Randolph J. Smiley (Brenda C.) and Alexander P. Smiley (Jill); his grandchildren, Douglas G. Wolf (Patricia), Daniel R. Wolf (Kersten), Emma C. Smiley, Ethan C. Smiley, Morgan J. Smiley and William P. Smiley; his sister Carol A. Roe (Smiley) of Brookfield, WI; Olivia R. Wolf. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
