He was predeceased by: his parents, Sam Smith and Beulah Burgess Smith; his wife Carol Ann Smith; his son Timothy Clay; his siblings, Ted Smith, Maxine McComb, Blondell Finch and Peggy Teague; and his grandson David Spears (Betty Pounds).
He is survived by: his daughters, Tammy Spears (Danny) of Jackson and Lori Oben (Christopher) of Marana, Arizona; his sister Patricia Willcutt; his grandchildren, Corey Spears, Kayla Morris (Jacob), Amy Watson (Matthew), Frank Capra (Cassandra), John Capra and Danielle Oben; his great grandchildren, Gianna Paukner, Lindsey Lesak, Kacen Morris, Connor Morris, Eli Morris, Elliot Watson, Evren Watson, Frankie Capra, Sloane Capra, Stevie Capra, Mavrick Capra, Frida Capra, Anders Capra and Charlotte Oben; his niece Sheila McCombs-Phillips; and his nephew Drew Willcutt. He is also survived by several other nieces and nephews.
