He is survived by: his son Eddie Gilbert, Jr. (Ashan'te) of Jackson; his grandchildren, Madison Gilbert, Alajah Gilbert, Kalayiah Townes, Eddie "Trey" Gilbert, III, James "Tate" Gilbert and Kaia Gee; and his pet Nella Wafer.
