He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Mitchell and Mattie Reynolds Mitchell; and his siblings, Joseph Mitchell, Jr. and Donna Lowe. He is survived by: his children, Jason Mitchell (Felicia) of Bradford, Richard Mitchell, Jr. of Trezevant, Michelle Vestal (Mark) of Beech Bluff, Jeanine Kail (Jacob) of Fruitland and Judith Hensley (Eric) of Humboldt; and his sisters, Brenda Whitman (Harold) of McKenzie and Patricia Dixon (Dale) of Carthage. He is also survived by twenty-four grandchildren; thirty-three great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, April 22nd 2025 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the The Tabernacle of the Living God (1098 S Main St, Milan, TN 38358). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, April 22nd 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Tuesday, April 22nd 2025 at 3:00 PM at the Poplar Springs Baptist Church Cemetery (165 Poplar Springs Rd, Milan, TN 38358).
