He was predeceased by: his father Robert Birrell; his daughter Lisa Marie; and his grandson Max Day. He is survived by: his mother LaRee Birch Birrell; his wife Barbara; his children, Desi Rae (Susan), Amberlee (Johnny) and Brett; his grandchildren, Katerina, Nathan, Issac, Landen and Ryker; his siblings, Gary, Janice, Rick, Laura and Diane; his close friend Doug; and his pet May.

Due to the Covid Pandemic, there will be a memorial service held at a later date.
