He was predeceased by: his granddaughter Elsie Barney; his parents, Arnold Alvey Barney and Beth Hall Barney; and his siblings, Lawrence Barney (Erlene), Jeanne Christensen (Steve), Bonnie Metcalf (Sam), Dianne Kreth (late Tom) and Arna Barney.
He is survived by: his wife Melinda Goss Barney; and his children, Kirsten Martin (Ric), Rhett Barney (Jennifer), Kimberly Berry, Mary Beth Pagela, Leah Nixon (Dean) and Brooke Smith. He is also survived by 21 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
