He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Byron Nelson and Genelle Deanne Nelson; and his brother Steve Nelson. He is survived by: his wife Kathy Nelson; his children, Andrew Nelson (Therese), Jamie Warack (Nicholas), Benjamin Nelson and Samuel Nelson; and his grandchildren, Sofia Warack, Gabriel Warack, Charlotte Warack, Maxwell Warack and Andrew Nelson (Rosie).

In lieu of a memorial or flowers, memorial donations to "I am ALS" or "Team Gleason" to help his son-in-law Nick battle ALS would be greatly appreciated.
