He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Ritsema and Nellie Ritsema; his wife Wilma J. Penno; his grandson James Seroogy; his son-in-law Jeff Seroogy; his siblings, Robert Ritsema (Cheryl) and Jane Cooke (Cliff); and his sister-in-law Joan Ritsema.
He is survived by: his children, Michael Ritsema (Luanne) of Verona, WI and Nancy Seroogy (Steve Gray) of Hampshire, IL; his granddaughter Jennifer Nyffeler (Alex); his great grandchild Aliza Nyffeler; and his siblings, Suzanne Vandenbosch (Robert) of Seattle, WA, Herbert Ritsema (Jan) of Grand Rapids, MI, Roger Ritsema (Char) of Grand Rapids, MI, James Ritsema (Jean) of Jenison, MI and William (Verna) of Hudsonville, MI. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.
In lieu of flowers, Al has requested that memorials be given to First Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund or Evergreen Retirement Community Benevolent Fund.
