She was predeceased by: her parents, Clifford Thomas and Thelma Thomas; and her siblings, Roland Thomas and Lori Heyden. She is survived by: her husband Don Nelson; her children, Chris Nelson (Julie) and Cathy Weigand (Mike); her grandchildren, Kaia Mersinger (Kyle), Erald, Bea, Mel and John Weigand; her sister Shari Hampton (Greg); and her brother-in-law David Heyden.
