He was predeceased by: his parents, Clark Gunkel and Mary Gunkel (Berthold); his wife Sharon Gebhardt-Gunkel; his sister Julie Bell; and his brother-in-law Jack Gebhardt.
He is survived by: his children, Deborah Manock, Christine Troudt (Mark), Craig Gunkel (Stephanie) and David Gunkel (Heather); and his brother James Gunkel. He is also survived by nine grandchildren; two step-grandchildren.
