He was predeceased by: his parents, Donald Cavanaugh and Marian Cavanaugh (Frey); his significant other Carla Sawall; and his brothers, James, Dennis and Larry Cavanagh.

He is survived by: his siblings, Rick Cavanaugh (Susan), Kevin Cavanaugh and Marcia Hoppe (Daryl); his sisters-in-law, Susie and Paulette Cavanaugh; and his cousin Jerry Frey.
