He was predeceased by: his parents, Alvin Swanson and Violet Swanson; his mother-in-law Elaine Spanbauer; his brother-in-law Dale Peterson Sr.; and his great-nephew Chance.

He is survived by: his wife Linda Spanbauer; his sister Linda Peterson (Marinette); his father-in-law Clyde Spanbauer; and his close friends, Bill and Don. He is also survived by nephew and nieces along with other extended family.

In lieu of flowers a couple of memorials are being planned in his name.
