He was predeceased by: his parents, Herbert Hilgendorf and Selma Hilgendorf (Zache); his sister Carol Hilgendorf; his stepdaughter Melissa Marks; and his brothers-in-law, Randy and Jon Tankersley.
He is survived by: his wife Robin Hilgendorf (Tankersley); his stepdaughter Rebecca Neubauer; his stepgrandchildren, Spencer Spanbauer, Carson Schettl, Paige Neubauer, Mackenzie Marks and Megan Marks; his mother-in-law Janet Norgard; and his brother-in-law Jeff Tankersley.
