He was predeceased by : his parents, Wilbur Dodson and Marion Doughty (Lang); and his stepparents, Warren Doughty and Gladys Dodson. He is survived by : his daughters, Sara Cords (David) and Sienna Compton (Andy); his grandsons, Collin, Declan and Brekin Cords; his former life partner Kim Steiner (Ron); and his sister Cynthia Doughty.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to; the Ceramics Department of University of Wisconsin - Oshkosh.
