He was predeceased by: his father Herman Schmit; and his siblings, Kenneth Schmit, Teresa Jacquart (Jim) and Addie Mae Dick (Tony). He is survived by: his wife Susie Schmit; his children, Mary, Lynn and Tom Schmit (Brenda); his grandchildren, Seamus (Sara), Keegan, Colin Murphy, Matthew (Haylie), Joseph, Monica Schmit, Daniel Jarnagin and Clare Denz (Alex); his great grandchildren, Mary Jean Murphy, Miles Schmit and Aiden McGlinn; and his brother David Schmit (Betty).
