He was predeceased by: his parents, George Akin and Esther Akin; his parents-in-law, Orland and Alice Heydon; his brother George Akin Jr. (Joey); and his brother-in-law Charles Kubitz.
He is survived by: his wife Kenlynn Mae Heydon; his children, David (Paula), Daniel (Judy) and Julie (Peter); his grandchildren, Zachary Akin (Leah Carpenter) of Apple Valley, MN, Jacob Akin (Leah Martin), Ben (Nicole), Chelsea (Jeff), Christian Steinert Columbus and Nick; and his nieces and nephews, Susan Nielsen Alliance (John), Steve, Toni, Christine, Chris, Anne and Matt.
In lieu of flowers a Memorial Fund will be established by the family.
