He was predeceased by: his parents, Delbert Akers and Ida Pratt Akers; his grandson Zachary Viers; and his siblings, Delbert Jr., Evelyn and Barb.
He is survived by: his wife Yvonne Byard Akers; his children, Kimberly Dawn Blankenship (Troy) and Charles E. "Chuck" Akers II (Melanie); his grandchildren, Justin Viers (Keisha), Daniel Viers (Elizabeth), Tanner Akers and Anna Akers; and his siblings, Tee Akers, Betty Staal and Linda Fouch. He is also survived by two great-grandsons and 1 great-granddaughter.
