She was predeceased by: her husband Charles Russell Hefner; her parents, Earl Ray and Catherine Lucille Sams; her sisters, Joyce Wickline (Jack) and Sue Perry (John); her siblings-in-law, Jackie Sams, Betty Cook and Bob Hefner; and her siblings' children, Becky Wickline and Nathan Sams.
She is survived by: her daughter Renee Kessinger; her son-in-law Mark Kessinger; her son Russell Hefner; her son-in-law Richard Lawson; her grandchildren, Cason Kessinger (Erin) and Sasha Kessinger; her siblings, Ruth Starr (Richard), Earl "Sonny" Sams (Louise), Barry Sams (Mary), Orville Sams (Sandra), Robert Sams (Debra), Roger Sams (Jenny), Doug Sams (Bernetta) and John Sams; her son Steve Heaberlin; and her sisters, Hilda Cockerham and Dessie Cockerham. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and their children.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to First Church of the Nazarene Children's Ministries or Hospice of Huntington who helped make her transition a peaceful one.
