She was predeceased by: her husband Gerald Rutenberg; her significant other Al Schaefer; her parents, Anne Shatner and Joe Shatner; and her extended family Roger Leeon.
She is survived by: her children, Linda, Carl and Mona; her grandchildren, Jeremy, Jessica, Samara, Justin, Rory, Alison, Jonathan and Jessy; her great grandchildren, Flora, Margot and Oren; her siblings, Bill Shatner and Farla Cohen; and her extended family, Moshe Shaki, Laurie Gurtenstein and Howard Bokser.
Contributions in Joy's memory may be made to the Manoir Westmount Foundation in support of the arts and recreation program.
