He was predeceased by: his children, Sarina and Dayna Hoppenheim; his sibling Berel Hoppenheim; his sister-in-law Sabina Schirmer; his parents, Jennie Felgar and David Hoppenheim; his father-in-law Dr. Kurt Schirmer; his aunts and uncles, Issie and Molly Felgar; and his cousin Babsie White.
He is survived by: his wife Rosemary Schirmer; his children, Maura Hoppenheim, Adam (Sharyn Hoppenheim), Teri Hoppenheim, Jenny Hoppenheim (Matthew Pekofsky), Caroline Hoppenheim (Jake Leibner) and Mel Jr.; his grandchildren, Tyler, Billy, Sydney, Jamie, Jonah, Jordan, Jake, Jack, Sophia, Lily, David, Ilan, Noah and Lev; his great grandchildren, Bobbi and Teddi; his sister Lila (Moe Ackman); his siblings-in-law, Ingrid, David Bryson, Geoffrey Chambers, Melanie Schirmer and Anne-Marie Schirmer; his mother-in-law Margaret; his cousins, Dr. Arthur, Yvonne Felgar, Faigie, Harold Borden, Chuck Felgar, Berel, Leslie Hoppenheim, Helen and Jack Caplan; and his godparents, Hymie and Freda Sckolnick. He is also survived by his nieces, nephews, family, friends.
