He was predeceased by: his parents, Lillian Maynard Gravel and Joseph Gravel; and his brothers, Joseph and George. He is survived by: his wife Joan Hamilton Gravel; his children, Carolyn (Stephan), Michael (Elizabeth) and Pamala; his grandchildren, Emma, Jake, Julia and Khloe; and his sisters-in-law, Marilyn (late Robert) and Cora (Ron). He is also survived by his many nieces, nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Centre Hébergement Champlain Palliative Care Unit, in his memory.
