With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Nicolaos Aftias of Montréal, Québec, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on May 27, 2024 at the age of 91. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Licourgos Aftias and Fotini Aftias; and his brother John Aftias. He is survived by: his friend Greek Easter; his wife Kiriaki Aftias; his children, Fotini Maria Aftias, Licourgos "Leo" Aftias and Dimitri "Jim" Aftias (Susan); his grandchildren, Nick Aftias (Rhiannon), Thomas Aftias (Edlyn), Alexa Aftias-Mertz, Christine Aftias-Sanchez and Michael Aftias; and his sister Vasilia Kritikos. He is also survived by 6 great-grandchildren.
When the Society decided to disband, they generously donated nearly $70, 000 to St. Basil's and the Church created three memorial scholarships to honor Nick and two other founding members, Steve Facaros and Bill Panagopoulos.
