Avis de décès de Florence (Mayrand) Schratz
Florence Mary Mayrand Schratz passed away peacefully at Résidence Floralies Lasalle on April 4, 2023, at the age of 103, in the company of loved ones.
Florence was born in Montreal on January 9, 1920, to Mary Elizabeth Murphy Mayrand and Leo Joseph Mayrand. She was predeceased by her sister Rita and by her husband, the love of her life, Richard Marcellus Schratz (1919 - 2006). After they married in 1949, Florence dedicated her time to being a wife and mother. She leaves behind four children (Elaine (Peter Wyse), Anthony, Joe and Louise), two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and beloved kin.
Vivacious, outspoken, determined and passionate, Florence was a force. She didnʼt hold back from speaking her mind, and if she didnʼt like something, everyone knew it. Florence was a charming and affable woman. Quick to laugh. Easy to anger. Full of enthusiasm. She lived her life with spirit and integrity, and was never afraid to stand up for herself.
Florence had two passions in life : her family and gambling, not necessarily in that order. She and Richard enjoyed many road trips together across Canada and throughout the United States, invariably ending up in Las Vegas, a place which she loved.
We have a huge appreciation for the excellent 1st floor staff at les Floralies Lasalle who consistently went above and beyond to take such loving care of our dear mother.
Florence will be keenly missed by all who knew her. She will be honoured on Saturday, April 22, at a visitation beginning at 1 pm, a service at 4 pm followed by a reception, all at Collins Clarke MacGillivray White, 5610 Sherbrooke Street West, Montreal, Quebec.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Salvation Army, an organization that was close to her heart.
