She was predeceased by: her parents, Leslie Garrett and Eleitha Dow; and her brother Kenny. She is survived by: her husband Kenneth Assels; her daughter Kelly (Mark); and her grandchildren, Nicholas (Bianca) and Brennan (Lyndsay).

Visitation was held on Thursday, February 19th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM and at 2:00 PM at the Saint James Anglican Church.
